Lizzie graduated with a BSc in Biochemistry from the University of Bristol in 2016 and is currently in the 3rd year of a 4-year Wellcome Trust Dynamic Molecular Cell Biology PhD. Her research focuses on how genes and mechanical loading impact on joint development and onset of diseases such as Stickler syndrome and Osteoarthritis. She is also team leader of the Bristol Bone Biologists, who participated in the European Space Agency's Spin Your Thesis 2018! programme; in which they examined the effect of high gravity levels on the immune, musculoskeletal and sensory systems of zebrafish.

 

In her spare time Lizzie can be found baking, catching up with friends (usually at the pub) or exploring the Brecon Beacons on horseback!
